(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "Bahraini statesmen know well that if Iran had done the least interference in that country, another story would have happened there, but Tehran is firmly committed to nonintervention in the affairs of other countries, including Bahrain," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said.
Abdollahian also strongly rejected Bahrainis' allegations about what it calls as Iran's "sleeping terror cells" in the Persian Gulf states.
The Iranian official further voiced regret over the continued suppression and massacre of the people by the Bahraini regime, and said what is underway in the tiny Persian Gulf island is the result of the halt in the trend of reforms in the country and continued discrimination and blatant violation of human rights in there.
Iranian officials have always stressed Tehran's support for the efforts made by the people in Bahrain and other regional countries to defend their legitimate rights, but they have also underlined that they would never intrude in the internal affairs of these countries.
Reports from Manama said the Al-Khalifa regime still continue suppression of peaceful protests in the country.
Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty.
Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.
So far, tens of protesters have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.
